On September 18, 2014, Kantheera Tipkanjanarat, a third-year BE student, represented Thammasat University at the University Economics Competition 2014, organized by Thailand's Fiscal Policy Office. Kantheera was second runner up in the nationwide competition.
The Fiscal Policy Office, under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance, organized the competition to strengthen and promote knowledge of economics among university students, encourage problem-solving in the financial and fiscal economies, and educate about the roles and responsibilities of the Ministry of Finance and the Fiscal Policy Office.
The first round consisted of a quiz about current economic issues in financial and fiscal policies, as well as fundamental economic concepts.
Five top-scoring university representatives went on to the speed round to answer economics questions.
Three top scorers continued to the final round, during which each was given an economics application question and delivered a five minute-long presentation to the panel of judges.
Kantheera, advised by Ajarn Loylom Prasertsri, emerged as second runner-up and won 30,000 Baht, an award trophy, and certificate of commendation.
