Graduation & Honors

To graduate with an Economics degree, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

a) The student must spend at least seven regular semesters studying[1], and obtain an overall cumulative GPA (all subjects combined) of at least 2.00.

b) Students must earn grades of C or above in EE311 OR EE312. (If grades for both courses are below C, students must select either to be regraded.)

c) Students must earn a cumulative GPA (for all economics courses in the major study block area) of at least 2.00.[2]

d) Course enrollments must conform with prerequisites and sequences.

[1]
Students enrolled at the university for at least six regular semesters, who have been exempted from taking some courses or been able to transfer credits, may be specially considered for graduation by the university chancellor.

[2] Computed from all economics courses according to course structure specified in cluster-specific courses and excluding economic courses recorded as free electives. For EE311 and EE312, if students take the courses more than once (because of the regrading), the highest grade will be used in calculation.

At the start of what is expected to be the final semester, students must declare graduation to the Thammasat University Office of the Registrar through the online system (http://www.reg.tu.ac.th). The Graduation Declaration must be submitted no later than fourteen days from the start of the regular semester, or seven days from the start of the summer semester. As part of the rechecking and confirming your graduation declaration, a copy of the Graduation Declaration Certificate, and a completed degree conferral form must be submitted to the BE Office. The degree conferral form is available at the BE Moodle website (https://bemoodle.econ.tu.ac.th/).

This is usually the case when your course grade falls below a certain threshold. For example, according to the B.E. curriculum, you must obtain at least a C in one of the following two subjects: EE311 or EE312. If your first attempt at the two courses results in a grade of less than C in both subjects, you must submit a regrading request to the B.E. office. However, retaking the course due to a failing grade or having previously withdrawn from the subject is not considered regrading.
