Top-tier schools go head-to-head in world’s largest student competition, competing for $1 million in start-up funding to solve President Clinton’s Urban Spaces Challenge
The team from Thammasat University, one of two teams representing Thailand, had been chosen to present their idea on how to create sustainable businesses that double the income of 10 million people living in crowded urban spaces – a challenge personally selected by President Bill Clinton. Ahmad Ashkar, CEO and Founder of the Hult Prize. The team members are from the Bachelor of Economics International Program (BE) and the School of Global Studies (SGS). The team consists of Supakrit Snidvongs Na Ayudhya (BE),Chaiyasit Wuthinitikornkit (BE) and Tin Kungsawanich (SGS). Their idea was to create a business that matches workers with full-time and part-time jobs, thus reducing frictional unemployment and labor shortages as well as poise people from crowded urban space to have a stable income and a better living standard.
The Hult Prize is the world’s largest student competition and start-up platform for social good. In partnership with President Bill Clinton and the Clinton Global Initiative, the innovative crowdsourcing platform identifies and launches disruptive and catalytic social ventures that aim to solve the planet’s most pressing challenges. Student teams compete in six cities around the world for a chance to secure US$ 1 million in start-up funding to launch a sustainable social venture.
Each team selected was chosen from more than 25,000 applications received from over 500 colleges and universities in over 150 countries. The Hult Prize regional competitions took place on March 11-12, 2016 in Boston, San Francisco, London, Dubai, and Shanghai. Thammasat had competed in Shanghai.
